Neuhoff Media Decatur hosted the 4th Annual Kids Fest, presented by State Farm agents Melanie and Al Schilling, on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at the Decatur Civic Center.

The event is geared towards children and their families, and kicks off for spring and summer family fun in Decatur.

Inside the doors of the Decatur Civic Center were several booths, where kids could pose for pictures with their favorite characters, including but not limited to Barbie, Spiderman and Princess Elsa from Disney’s Frozen. Kids also enjoyed a wide variety of activities throughout the day, such as bounce houses, balloon animals, face painting, food trucks, shopping, and more. There were also several stage performances throughout the day from groups such as the band The Awesome Squad, Decatur Park District Fitness and Millikin Cheerleaders among others. Along with the endless entertainment, there were several educational features at Kids Fest, including explorable police cars from the City of Decatur, informational booths from the Boys and Girls Club and Macon County CASA, karate and self-defense demonstrations and more.

Emily Phillips, Brand Marketing & Development Manager at Neuhoff Media Decatur, says this year’s Kids Fest had one of the biggest turnouts in the event’s history.

“We recorded over 1,600 paid attendees through the door, but that didn’t include vendors, volunteers, and stage performers.” Phillips said, “We coordinate with several local businesses and groups each year to make this event possible. We wouldn’t be able to host this wonderful community event without the time and support of every vendor, volunteer and performer.”
