The shores of Lake Decatur were full of fun and festivities as the city celebrated the 100th birthday of the body of water. From June 7 to June 9, residents and visitors flocked to Nelson Park and Lake Decatur to join the celebration.

The event, sponsored by the Staley Family Foundation, the City of Decatur, the Decatur Park District, and the Decatur Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, offered an array of activities to engage people of all ages. Attendees were treated to live music performances, a car show, sailboat activities, a lighted boat parade, and local artisan art fair, touch a truck, mural paining, standing paddle and kayak rides.

As a fitting tribute to Lake Decatur’s centennial, a ribbon-cutting ceremony took place to unveil the newly named Staley Basin.

Neuhoff Media Decatur’s TAT, Tonee Roper, Shyler Kraus, Lindsay Romano, Brian Byers and the Decatur Civic Leadership interns all attended the event.  NowDecatur.com, Y103, 95Q, WSOY, and HOT 105.5 covered the event and captured the essence of the celebration, engaging with attendees, and providing extensive coverage of the event.
