Job Summary
Coveted morning show host position at Decatur’s Country Home – 95Q (WDZQ-FM) in Decatur, Illinois. This position includes being the face of WDZQ-FM in the market, hosting the morning show weekdays, as well as on-site remotes/events/concerts, helping conceive, plan, and execute station promotions in coordination with the WDZQ-FM Program Director and the Social Media & Promotions Coordinator.
Responsibilities
- Hosts WDZQ-FM morning show weekdays and is responsible for conceiving, planning and executing elements that entertain and interest the target demographic of the brand under the direction of/in collaboration with the WDZQ-FM Program Director on all WDZQ-FM platforms including but not limited to broadcast signal, website, app, social media, stream, and podcasts.
- Follows all guidelines, policies and procedures of the station, Neuhoff Media, the FCC and local, state, and federal laws.
- Ensures logged commercials are aired.
- Ensures promotional and content elements on-air, online, on social, email etc. run as directed/promised.
- Hosts live events, interviews guests, converses and connects with listeners at on-site events.
- Works to cultivate meaningful and authentic connections within the Decatur community and actively participates and attends community events to build brand presence in the community.
- Prepares written content, visual images, audio, and video footage for websites, social media, or other digital platforms.
- Makes regular appearances at paid and non-paid station events.
- Assists with voice over and production as needed.
- Attends weekly meetings for promotional planning.
- Attends monthly meetings online with Neuhoff Media Content Team.
- Attends Neuhoff Media Content Team in-person meetings 1-3 times per year.
- Handles emergency events as needed (severe weather, breaking news, etc.) and is on call for possible disasters, severe weather, news, etc.
Qualifications
- Has experience and success in growing their station and personal brands through broadcast, digital, community involvement.
- Has a pleasant, friendly, and engaging presence in person, online, and on-air.
- Is socially aware, informed and takes the time to stay up-to-date on trends, news, and topics of interest to the target demographic.
- Is a self-starter who takes pride in the station brand as well as their own personal brand and that pride extends to all the content they create.
- Is able to meet deadlines and retains composure in a fast-paced environment with last minute-changes.
- Is coachable and open to hearing and implementing constructive criticism.
- Is an excellent verbal and written communicator.
- Demonstrates creativity and imagination.
