Decatur, IL – It was a day that mixed fun, education, beats and burgers, when HOT 105.5‘s (WCZQ-FM) TAT hosted DJ TAT Camp for kids with the Boys & Girls Club of Decatur on Friday, July 28th at Suite 704. There’s no one who could be more enthusiastic or experienced that TAT, who happens to be the official DJ for the University of Illinois Fighting Illini Football and Basketball Seasons.
The kids learned about the history of DJing, equipment, how to create and organize a playlist, cueing/beat matching, authenticity, and branding. Then they put it all together and tried it for themselves. Lunch was also served with burgers from Krekels.
The goal of DJ TAT Camp was to get kids involved in the #celebratingthearts initiative brought to you by S.I.M.P. Inc. and the R3 grant in collaboration with TAT Global Enterprises Inc. As a musical art, this event allowed underserved, overlooked populations of young people to experience being a DJ.
