Decatur, IL – September 22, 2023 – The 16th annual Diamonds and Desserts event was held on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at a glittering gala in Decatur, Illinois. This event, organized by the Girl Scouts of Central Illinois, serves as both a fundraiser and an awareness initiative. This year’s event honored two distinguished individuals as Diamond honorees: Theresa Rutherford, CEO of HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital, and Drew Early, CEO of Decatur Memorial Hospital.

The glittering occasion was attended by various notable figures, including Neuhoff Media Danville General Manager Kathy Byerly and Y103’s Shyler Kraus, who added their support to the cause.

One of the highlights of the evening was the signature prize wall presented by Flora Gems, offering attendees a chance to win gift cards for exquisite fine jewelry. The event also featured a signature cocktail raffle, with the coveted prize being none other than Girl Scout Cookies, specifically the coveted Raspberry Rallies. The evening was also marked by a competition among local chefs who created cookie-inspired desserts.

The success of the event was made possible thanks to the generous support of sponsors including CEFCU, Flora Gems, Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Breheny, and Dr. and Mrs. Paul Stanley, who shared the commitment to the Girl Scouts’ cause.

Stacy LeFeber, Director of Fund Development at the Girl Scouts of Central Illinois, spoke passionately about the event’s theme, saying, “Our theme is Laughter is the Best Medicine. The reason for the evening is being grateful and getting some laughter in there and enjoy ourselves, raise awareness and funds for a very good cause, Girl Scouting: building girls of courage, confidence, and character, and that’s what it’s all about.”
