On Friday, January 26, 2024, Oakwood Grade School hosted its DARE Program Graduation – recognizing the achievements of 6th graders who completed the program. The ceremony featured an address by Neuhoff Media Danville’s Steve Brandy, who brought an inspiring message to the graduating students.
Steve Brandy, a familiar voice in the community, shared insights and encouragement from his extensive background. Utilizing his experience in public health as a Public Information Officer, he incorporated an anti-vaping message, aligning with the broader effort to address health concerns among young people. Brandy is no stranger to speaking about the importance of healthy decision-making to youth, as he has experience speaking at similar events in Hoopeston and Westville.
Among pulling from his extensive background, Brandy said he also drew inspiration from basketball coach Bob Donewald to emphasis the importance of living life with purpose.
“I always recall what Coach Donewald said about playing the game with purpose, and I translate that into ‘Play the game of life with purpose.’ Whether in basketball or life, having a clear purpose is key,” shared Brandy.
