Beloved Sportscaster Paul Pachlhofer Retires After 40-Year Coverage of Springfield City Tournament

Springfield’s City PA Announcer Paul Pachlhofer is retiring after he covered his final City Tournament this past weekend at Springfield’s BoS Center. The 2024 Tournament was Pachlhofer’s 40th and final City Tournament. Pachlhofer says he’ll miss working with the people who make the tournament possible each year but assures fans that he’ll be in the stands for next year’s tournament. Springfield City Tournament is a beloved tradition dating back to 1949 that sees local high school basketball teams facing off for the City Championship Title. Springfield’s residents gathered at Springfield’s BoS Center for a series of thrilling games, stretching from January 17 through January 20, 2024, filled with matchups in boys and girls basketball and performances from local pom squads and drumlines. The Lanphier Boys and Springfield High Girls teams were the big winners of the weekend, claiming the city title in their respective leagues.
